Luke 2: 1-20 was the focus of last night's Christmas Eve Message. Pastor Steve Baden recited Apostle Luke's account about the birth of Jesus, including Mary and Joseph's difficult journey to Bethlehem as part of the Roman census. As recorded in Luke 6-12: "While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available to them. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the Angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a boaby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

The Christmas Eve program included a "Message from the Angels" recited by Cassidy and Kathy, and Lantern Lighters singing "God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman" and holding lit lanterns while walking up the aisles to start the service. Children in attendance participated in placing felt pieces on a Nativity Board to help tell the story of the birth of Christ. A message from Pastor Steve focused on the Apostle Luke's account of the birth of Christ. Over 100 guests in attendance sang "Silent Night" while holding candles, this followed the Holy Communion element of the service. All were invited to enjoy hot chocolate and a wide variety of Christmas cookies in the Fellowship Hall following the service. It was a beautiful evening devoted to celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior.
