"Taking Evil Thought Captive" Prayer & Sermon

On May 21, Guest Speaker Pastor Jeff La Spina shared the poem shown above during his sermon on the same topic: Taking Evil Thought Captive.  He shared with those in attendance that he wrote the prayer while out on a walk contemplating the subject matter of the sermon.  The audio of the sermon is available below by placing your cursor over the "arrow" to listen to the message.

Jackie shared a short story she found among her mother's photos. "A Little Parable For Mothers" set the stage for a wonderful Mother's Day service.

Guest Speaker Jim Snodgrass delivered a message titled, “The Wife of Noble Character,” focusing on Proverbs 31: 10-31 and John 19: 26-27. The message was followed by a special presentation featuring mothers of church members and was a touching tribute to the many women who make, and have made, a difference in our lives.

The Resurrection: A Historical Event 5/7/2017

Guest Speaker Carl Wimmer focused on the truth of the factual events listed in 1 Corinthians 15:4 “…that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…”(NIV) in his message on May 7. Citing scriptures from Corinthians, Luke, James, and other chapters of the Bible, Mr. Wimmer discussed modern-day techniques of determining facts versus fiction and pointed out that the resurrection of Jesus Christ was indeed a historical event. He will return to Duck Creek Community Church on June 18, Father's Day, and share photos and learnings from a trip to Israel.

Carl Wimmer's message titled "The Person of Jesus Christ" was delivered at Duck Creek Community Church on April 30. The scripture focus was John 1:14 "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." (NIV)

Mr. Wimmer will return to speak on May 7, 2017.

From 2007 to 2012, Mr. Wimmer was was a member of the Utah House of Representatives, 52nd District. Born and raised in Utah, he and his wife Sherry are devout christians and he is pursuing his degree in theology.


Guest Speaker Loren Crannell--April 23

Loren Crannell, DCCC Men's Ministries Leader and Vice President, Sales at Moulton Logistics Management.

On April 23, Loren Crannell, Vice President, Sales, at Moulton Logistics Management, and DCCC Men's Ministries Leader spoke on "The Three C's of James".  He focused on how the Bible, specifically verses from James, teaches us how to take life's challenges and turn them into opportunities to change our lives for the better. His talk helped to arm listeners with some of the tools needed to walk a path that leads away from temptation to spiritual redemption.
